Christmas!

Tiffany & Co bracelet, Red Pocket Money, Instax Camera, Lululemon Giftcard, Mac Lip Gloss

It's that time of year! Christmas ♥ Back when I was younger it seems like there were a lot more presents around the tree, and I'm guessing that has to do with the fact that there were a lot more smaller presents. And now as my sister and I have gotten older there are less presents but instead they are bigger! Here's what I got this year (:

Love this sterling silver infinity bracelet.
As you get older, people just start giving you money instead! And if you're chinese, they often come in red pockets.

UWO Science Tips

1) There are two lab manuals for physics - that being said, bring the right one to class.

2) Zinke physics - leaves me speechless. Going to class/ not going to class - either way you're screwed.
It's strange, leaving the exam I had never been more upset in the world. I didn't even have one answer that I was remotely confident in and thought that I probably had a success rate of 35%. I honestly didn't think I would pass the exam, but the Zinke curve will do you wonders. I ended up with a 90 in the class, I have absolutely no idea how; but as long as everyone else fails the same questions as you (less than 20% of the class gets the correct answer) then the question will simply be removed. On our 2012 Fall Exam, he took off nine questions.

3) There are prelabs for physics and chemistry - remember to do them

Do the pre-labs or risk losing 20% of your mark.
Hint: Find old labs from an upper year, they'll save you so much time an effort.

4) Set your goals high, continue aiming for those 90s. Honestly, I think the fact that they prepare you for a 10-15% mark dip is ridiculous. I can definitely see it being true in a social science or an arts course, where essays are marked a lot harder; but in science classes or math, where answers are simply right or wrong this is actually not true. I always thought that once university started 80s would be the new 90s, but I realized for first year at least that 90s are still definitely possible. I know a lot of smart people who were finishing in the mid 90s. I thought that maintaining a minimum of 80 for the Biomedical Sciences/AEO would be scary; but that isn't actually even my goal anymore - I definitely want a mark higher than that.

5) Calculus 1000 is definitely not too difficult of a class. The key is staying caught up, and going to class but you don't actually have to do all of the recommended homework questions. It definitely helps; however the real key to doing well on the midterm/final is doing all the questions in the OLD finals booklet. Personally I did really bad in high school calculus, I struggled with TIPS (an Ontario high school problem) and finished the final with about a 60; but at UWO I finished with a mark about 20% higher!

Shellac - They last too long!

Sometimes going to the nail salon to get a manicure is a nice little treat for yourself, unfortunately they can be somewhat expensive and usually last for a week or even less. Although Shellac has been around for a little, I just tried it last month and was super impressed!

Shellac is 'like a gel' but it is not the same as having gel nails. They use a nail polish that has some gel in it, and it also has to be hardened through UV light so they dry super fast! I don't know the facts that well but I'm under the impression they're better for your nails than actual gel nails. For a 'polish change' (a manicure without the hand massages) and Shellac it cost me about $30.

Originally I wanted them to last longer than one week so I could finally get my money's worth, but what's funny is that they actually ended up lasting loner than I wanted! They stay for so long that your nail outgrows it and it looks really strange if you have a french (the tips move forward).

As of now they actually lasted nearly two months now and have grown half a nail, it was only yesterday that some edges started to look like they had separated. I've actually peeled some of it off, I think it might have caused some physical nail trauma though.

Phantom of the Opera - Majestic Theatre Seats

Hi guys!

I just got back from a trip to Philadelphia and New York City that I got to spend with my friends! Two of the biggest highlights of the trip was visiting King of Prussia and watching Phantom of the Opera (I'll give a mini review/pic of the seats).

Wonky Macbook Charger

Grr! I've already replaced my charger once, but now this is the second time where half the time the charging light doesn't show up! Sometimes I reach 0:01 minutes left before it turns on, it's become super irritating since its not dependable right now and might suddenly crash.

This macbook is such a lemon.

Always Google for Discount Codes : American Eagle

Today I finally got around to buying what I've been looking at for two weeks: a denim jacket. When I was younger, I always loved them but eventually they went out of style, and so I paid less attention to it and didn't notice them as much. But within the last two years, they started making a comeback!

Avocado

I. Love. Avocado.

Beside it's list of health benefits, it is a "good fat", Avocado is extremely creamy and delicious. Honestly, I would eat one everyday if it weren't the fact that it still does, contain fat.

Here's a a sandwich I made the other day:

Delicious Chicken Avocado Sandwich
Avocado and Barbecue Chicken
So delicious.

Mail has Arrived!

Love getting packages in the mail!
My purchases from Endless.com (Amazon) have arrived! It actually arrived pretty quickly, I live in Canada and so normally the shipping takes awhile. I qualified for a (non expedited) shipping, which internationally averages 6-12 days, but since we're the US' neighbour its usually about 4-6 days. It's estimated date was actually the monday after the weekend, but to my surprise it arrived early (this Friday)!

I got a wallet and a cosmetic bag (: both are Marc by Marc Jacobs. Click to see some pictures!

Eczema and the Best Moisturizer Ever.

All my life I've had skin problems revolving around Eczema. I'd always have really rough skin rashes and be constantly itchy. As I got older though (as it does for most people) it started to mild out, but every summer it would come back. This year I got it really badly around my joints (elbows/knees) and even my neck. Believe it or not even my eyelids were really dry and peeling!

Fortunately, after going to the doctor she recommended a lotion that the local Dermatologist frequently recommends: CeraVe. At first I figured it would just be like Aveeno, or any other moisturizer, and reluctantly went to Shoppers Drug Mart to buy this product that she spoke so highly of.

Now I'm glad I did. It's not oily at all, and I love using it in general not just where I'm really dry. It's fantastic at moisturizing and has no smell either. It's completely cleared up all the rashes I was experiencing and allowed my skin to return back to normal! Supposedly one of it's special features is that it contains ceramides, which is naturally found in the layers of your skin.

Although I've read some reviews from others saying that it wasn't that great for them I highly recommend that you give CeraVe a try, as it really did me wonders (:

What other solutions do you have to making your Eczema go away? Tell me if CeraVe worked for you just as well as it did for me!

Canada Beauty Boxes!

They've become all the rage, namely through Loose Button's Luxe Box! In the US they began with Birchboxes (no source), and for the past year they have been springing up in Canada.

What are they?
Well for a 'small' fee of approximately $10-12 dollars you get to open your door to presents every month! What these presents are, are actually a handful of 4-7 small samples. Of course samples are automatically free, what people seem to really enjoy is receiving monthly presents in the mail ( I mean who doesn't like that?).

Sore

With my graduation and exams, I started to neglect my gym membership (exactly what they want!), but now that I have so much free time I started going again.

Ugh I'm so sore all over, its a combination of the weight class, hot yoga, and irritable skin which feels like I have mosquito bites covering every inch of my body - so itchy. I have no self resolve which only then results in hives and pain later on - ouch.

Samsung Galaxy S3

As usual, I'm an iPhone fan. Unfortunately I lost it recently and have been depending on an old 9700 Blackberry, and am stuck waiting for the new iPhone 5! It's too bad that it isn't likely to be released until October or so!

Before the Samsung phone hadn't even showed up on my radar, like I noticed other people with it but really didn't care. It wasn't until recently that I really held it and started liking the interface! I'm really tempted to get one, but its really expensive, nearly $600. This also conflicts with me wanting to get the newest iPhone haha so I realized the best solution, is to get the Samsung S3, temporarily. If I could resell it for a similar price without losing much money, I would be so excited to get my hands on one!

Online Vet Service : AskAVetQuestion

Any pet owner would know (or soon learn) that visits to the vet are quite expensive. Each visit may cost hundreds of dollars; nevertheless it is necessary when seeking help for their pet.

Recently my dog started acting strange after a few minutes of running/exercise. She'd start to walk funny (sideways) and simply fall over as she was walking, this only occurred after exercise, and she resumed normality within an hour.

This condition didn't seem high risk, and so I googled around to see what I could find. This is when I started stumbling onto websites where Veterinarians were giving advice for a small fee.

Which Marks Count ?

Throughout high school I feel like I was always unsure of which marks mattered the most. Of course people will say to work hard each year, and to develop the right skills but I want to let people know the actual story. What is being looked at, and what isn't.

But first of all, university applications throughout Ontario are done through a website known as OUAC. Your high school will provide you with a Username and Password (that should be confidential) and it is through this site that you will apply to and accept/reject your universities.

Essentially the marks that you get in Gr.9 and Gr.10 mean very little in the Canadian system. They do not appear on OUAC, and as such the universities will never see these marks. You can slack, do well, whatever as long as you step it up in Gr. 11 and Gr.12.

Online Shopping - Hollister!

You've definitely done it before, and have shopped online while you were supposed to do something else.

Recently Hollister had a 40% off sale, both in-stores and online! Supposedly shopping online is cheaper, and from the deals I found it wouldn't be hard to believe. Shopping in the clearance section seemed to be the best find I've had in awhile. Although I have kind of stopped shopping at Hollister, I just couldn't miss out on all these steals.

Toronto Prom Dress Boutiques!

So, it's senior year and with summer along its way girls are looking to find that special prom dress.

After looking through a bunch of stores I finally found mine! I wanted to share a list of stores that you should visit, to help you with your search (:

I have the names - but you'll have to google for their address!

  • Obsession Boutique
Eglinton - I personally found my dress here, and thought it was wonderful as they had a huge selection of dresses even in April (one month before my prom). Most of the stores seemed to have limited stock, but this store you have trouble walking around since there are that many dresses in the room! They also had a pretty good range of dresses - when you're looking for a dress in the same category as those Sherri Hill dresses they're bound to cost a few hundred. At this store expect to pay $350+
  • Want Boutique
This is actually a chain, with at least 5 locations. The stores are pretty nice; however, I found that the majority of their dresses were short. There would be one or two racks of long dresses on the side. The dresses are nice too and that is where a bunch of my friends found theirs. I'm not sure but I think that dresses were 350-400+

Foiling Method!

Right now, glittery nail polishes seem all the rage. Originally you may think that it's something that only kids/ 5 year olds would be seen wearing but more and more brands from OPI, Essie, Color Club, to Deborah Lippman are releasing these colours!

Although there have always been the shiny/glimmering colours; these are nail polishes with actual pieces of glitter in them. Sometimes they may even have the large hexagonal pieces of glitter too!

Unfortunately what people find out soon after, is that the process of removing this nail polish is length and time consuming. It's definitely not as easy as what people are used to, and it definitely does not come off with one or two rubs.

Fortunately for everyone who is interested in trying this new fad, there is such a thing as the "Foil Method". What this entails is soaking your fingers in nail polish remover, and with time it becomes much easier to remove.
